Reuters reporter asked U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth earlier why he decided to choose an under-qualified retired lieutenant general to be the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS), referring to U.S. Air Force three-star general Dan Caine, who does not fit several of the qualifications usually required of the CJCS, including being actively in the military and being a four-star officer, thus requiring him to receive a waiver.
Secretary Hegseth responded with, āIām gonna choose to reject your unqualified question.ā
