I agree on the part that something perfectly functional doesn't have storytelling value, though you don't necessarily need to pick the most unlikable characters in both timelines which also makes your movie less watchable.
Why did you think it felt horribly dated?
I heard Paltrow didn’t like the actors cast to be her love interests in the film, finding them too unattractive. I actually like John Hannah. He’s normally cast as the best friend with witty quips. So I think I liked him being cast as the leading man. The film is however showing its age and how it’s so very 90’s, in style and tone.
You really disliked Sliding Doors eh? I think I first watched it when I had mono in middle school so I’ve never been thinking about it very critically.
I don't have a problem w/ John Hannah, I just didn't like his "Ima sneak into your heart in your vulnerable moment, and later reveal I'm still married" insincere character. I didn't think about it critically until you asked either. When being asked, I had to dig deep and find reasons why I might not have been a big fan.
Fair enough. He still meets her again in a vulnerable moment at the end of the movie in the original timeline. I think of the story of James told in the movie as the alternate timeline. It’s basically takes the idea of if I just met them sooner it would’ve been better and shows that’s probably not the case.
Which desktop Nostr client r u using btw, if any? Iris is okay but the way it displays conversations threads is bad. If someone replies to same thread node twice, you have to battle it to get to that. Snort is better but It doesn't necessarily notify you when someone mentions you, consistently.
I typically use Damus. I’ve tried Iris a bit, Primal as well. But I haven’t been the best at exploring other clients. My computer is my distraction free zone. I try to keep them just to my iPad but they’ve crept back on to my phone recently.
Primal is kind of nice but IDK why I can't use it w/o a browser extension.
