One of the goals for Lightning is privacy through Onion routing.

Old logs, however, remain in the node. Node are usually run in cloud providers, making them huge log honeypots.

Why is all these data kept by nodes?

Tor, for example, does not log anything by default. Some VPNs are running on RAM-only infrastructure.

There seems to be no technical reason to keep all these data.

Peter Todd announces he is ready to grant a 420'000 sats bounty to the first person which can build a plugin to completely delete LND logs from Lightning nodes!
