Kind of hoping I don’t live long enough to see the year 2106 bug hardfork wars. Hopefully it can be solved without a hardfork. Which one would you support:
- 2106 fix
- 2106 fix + 2x blocksize increase
- 2106 fix + 10x+ blocksize increase
Necc 😵

I don't see a problem of an HF for a critical bug like that, people will have to upgrade or the node stops. Hard to tell the block size increase required by that time. I think blocksize should be an algo that increases the limit a small percentage if blocks are full for a long period of time.
See the “should be” part. There will be numerous proposals that will try to add in stuff on top of fixing the bug, which could splinter the hash. Looks like it’ll be an ugly affair.
I don't think other stuff should be added. If there is a problem with the blocksize I think we hit that wall well before that date.
It's fixable via a soft or hardfork, I see no issues.
Besides, that's quite some time from now...
Where have you seen a soft fork would do it? I’ve had trouble researching it in the past.
Based on what I've read, the prevailing opinion leans towards a hard fork, although there are also discussions about a soft fork solution.
Therefore, I've addressed both possibilities in my writing to remain impartial.
