New social networks require unique value propositions that large groups of people care about. Most people don’t care about censorship resistance or shadowbanning because most people aren’t affected until they are.

A more unique front-facing set of features is needed.

Zapping is not one of them either because most people still don’t care for bitcoin, let alone lightning.

Nostr will struggle until it had a unique value prop. Hell, Farcaster has frames which is cool, but also not a good enough selling point.

We’ll need full on dictatorships, be it authoritarian, or communistic in nature, plus ridiculous inflation in the west for any of these platforms to really take off.
