To be clear, I'm not referring to an app store concept as I think app stores are a symptom, I refer to the use case I described here:

https://highlighter.com/a/naddr1qqgrxwrfw5m8garwdvm85aenwajxgq3ql2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqxpqqqp65wxtanuc

Specifically I mean something like what happened with Flare last night in the note I embedded before:

* there's a response to a non-kind1 that the current client doesn't handle.

* I see the response, when I go see what it's about I see the event where nostur says "I don't know how to handle this kind"

* Nostur could render the `alt` tag that would Flare could have written with something like "This is a video called '...'" (so Nostur users can see the context)

* Upon clicking the note that Nostur doesn't handle Nostur queries (in the background) for NIP-89 recommendations of apps this user's follows use for this unknown kind

* Nostur can either show a popup saying "we don't support this use case but these apps do" and show a list, maybe with avatars of the people that use it (Habla does this) or direct the user to the URL. Note that the URL will be of the event itself NOT of the homepage of the app. (so instead of just sending the user to flare.pub it would send the user to flare.pub/

hope that makes sense!

I don’t get why you need an extra step from note to event id and only then to app?

Why not show apps that can handle that kind right in the note? This is what I was referring to with App Store swipable app surfacing

ah yeah, that's better

that's why you work on UX and I don't 😂

when you mentioned the app store I thought you had the idea of using NIP-89 to list a bunch of apps unrelated to what the user was viewing (like what Coracle does on the apps tab https://coracle.social/apps which is not a bad thing, just unrelated to what I was describing)

Oh I see. Nope, I was actually thinking of showing apps that can open that kind and say something along the lines of “use one of these apps to view this content”, maybe with a modal to explain why that’s happening
