My child, a sparrow takes its flight,

A hawk descends with fearsome might.

The sparrow falls, a life undone,

My heart cries, "Justice, where has it gone?"

But icons watch with patient gaze,

The candle's flame in shadowed haze.

God's justice veiled, a mystery deep,

A harvest sown for souls to reap.

Forgiveness sought, a tear I weep,

For hawk and sparrow, secrets keep.

The Cross, a sign, a Father's plea,

That mercy triumphs, sets us free.
