Falsely?
when the url debunks the fake news headline....
From their page on corporate sponsorship:
“All NPR funding sources, including corporate sponsors, are considered under the "access" principle, which means that NPR has no list of sources from which funding will not be accepted. However, potential conflict of interest and problems of listener misperception, confusion, or similar reason regarding the funder's role and/or influence on programming will be considered in accepting or rejecting underwriting.”
The headline says they were labeled as “state-affilited” and the url gets the label correct “government fund”.

Haha, yeah. more concerning to me are tight relationships with corporations like Bloomberg or in years past, Monsanto. I remember meeting a person who worked at WNYC and was there when Michael Bloomberg came by their new studio that his company provided them. As he left his last comment was “don’t fuck it up.” And yes, he was mayor at the time.
HOW CAN YOU CLAIM WE ARE GOVERNMENT FUNDED WE ONLY GET $30 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR!
:)
stl npr is pretty serious operation
I did not make much progress on this yet
NPR is a paid propaganda machine.

Right! My argument for NPR is that they should be able to define their own voice and representation, and no one person or org should be able to enforce tagging…if they move to Nostr, then they can own their own followers / fans and then we can contextualize how we want with the data they provide…
Regardless of whether you think their content is or isn't dictated by the government, they ARE state-affilliated.
