At an average of 140vB/tx it would have taken 1.6MvB – 1.6 entire blocks - just to send @jb55 all these zaps. For @jb55 to use all those tips would probably have taken another ½ block or so.

Lightning scales _so_ much better than the alternative. Nostr alone could probably use up most of Bitcoin's on chain capacity, and that's one single obscure use case.
