An appreciating currency makes consumption less desirable. Right now, we anticipate great returns so our appetite for consumption is way low.

The more Bitcoin matures, the easier it will be to outperform. Eventually it's value will reflect the size of the economy. Increase in value when stretched across a larger economy, decrease when economy contracts.

Consumption will still be different, quality > quantity, larger and more thought out projects, etc. but mud hutting won't do anyone any good. Go out there and be productive, invest in yourself, outperform Bitcoin.
