I’d love to see a client include a home tab for ‘top notes’ over the prior 24 hours, sortable by likes or zaps.
Would this appeal to anyone else?

This is where it gets tricky IMO. How do you show the content people want to see once it gets to a large amount without manipulating the algo in a potentially non positive way. Its probs started out as an innocent thing on a lot of the big tech corps we see now.
No algorithm. It just straight up lists the top X (finite? infinite scroll?) notes on a rolling basis over the prior 24 hours. Better yet, only show posts of people you follow. Or maybe a separate ‘top’ tab for global?
Yeah no I agree with your possible solution. But once you get into picking what you think the user wants to see the most out of their followers it gets tricky.
Agreed. None of that.
Top 10 maybe, as a trending feature… but sorting the whole thing this way is a bad idea. The difference between a note where only I tipping 57 and only you tipped 42 is meaningless.
Yeah it would. Sounds like a way to filter and boost quality signal without a manipulative algorithm.
But it would have to be zaps only, because bots can like posts for free ⚡️
Seems like a great way to avoid spamming the list. Smart.
My only concern is there might still be an echo chamber element if the top posts create more follows and then more zaps and so on.
But if money is a signal and the user is parting with precious sats, then maybe it’s a perfectly fair and balanced way to do it?
So far, it’s the best thing I can picture. Currently nostr is very “stream of consciousness” which is awesome, but I always wonder if I missed something useful if I’m away for a while.
