Grass is an expensive agriculture crop to maintain. Humans are really weird about it

BTW, there is a method of gardening called sheet mulching. Place cardboard over the entire area, haul in a little compost and spread over the top and reseed with desired plants. Or sod over top. Card board eventually breaks down into soil. Google sheet mulch.
