Could you please break it down for human consumption :-)
Here's a good place to start: nevent1qvzqqqqqqypzq9eemymaerqvwdc25f6ctyuvzx0zt3qld3zp5hf5cmfc2qlrzdh0qyg8wumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnddakj7qgwwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkctcqypsdrxr2nfsfsnyac3uqtnm537fqy5awlu927untkajyjwzjd9qzupmzlld
this is great stuff but what I fail to understand why do we need this in #nostr ?
nostr already have the best privacy because it gives you anonymous access .. no KYC .. no email or phone number ..
if I am anonymous, why do I need privacy !
.. apps like Signal or whatsapp need to such weird things because they want your identity - phone number ( or email addres )
For apps that adhere to #nostr protocol , such privacy discussion are moot .. if not gross wastage of dev efforts ..
Defense in depth means you don't reveal the content of messages if you don't have to do.
There's the issue of leaking IP addresses (even a VPN can often be traced to its owner).
There's plenty of people using their real (or at least easily traceable to real) identity already. Those people need to be able to have confidential conversations.
Even for nyms, pseudonymity offers totally insufficient privacy. We already know this from Bitcoin. But with text and image content there's vastly more clues for law enforcement, spooks and aspiring hostage takers to figure out who is behind a text.
are you saying these tools will stop leaking IP addresses ? because that seems like a real problem .. any idea how it is done - I mean how can I find IP address of anyone using nostr ? is there a simple tool or document you could point me to ..
... as for VPN users , I have no sympathy cuz that is for VPN apps to fix ... not nostr !
As for people using their real IDs on nostr .. that is their prerogative.. nostr didn't ask anyone to share their pics, phone or email .. am I right .. saying this cuz no one can go around preaching people how to live their lives - much less how to use #nostr :-)
You comment on Bitcoin - that psudonyms offer less privacy .. could you please tell me who was Satoshi .. I guess s/he is the one everyone cares to know more about ..
