It’s not just that Twitter incentives and rewards aggression and hostility.

The flip-side of that coin is that there are no repercussions for behaving like a jerk.

If you walked into a work meeting, or a bar, or a town center, and tell someone - to their face, with dozens of people listening - that you think they’re a loser [or insert insult here], YOU would be the one who gets shunned and socially rejected.

Because being an a-hole isn’t welcome in REAL human society.

But Twitter’s engagement algorithms rewards that kind of behavior, so it proliferates, without the negative feedback that would otherwise exist.

Nostr is different.

Criticism is fine - it’s how we grow and evolve.

But when I see someone act unnecessarily shallow and rude, I unfollow them. They lose my attention, and they lose the potential of my future zaps.

Value for value goes both ways.

TL:DR

Don’t be a dick.

Well said! Unfortunately there’s ’keyboard warriors’ everywhere. Indeed here they lose my ⚡️ ‘s when I block them as well!

Precisely. This is such an opportunity for a social experiment in quality content production.

So far, so good 🤙

There's an in-built problem when there is no dislike button. To express agreement I click like and move on. To express disagreement I have to form an argument and type it. It's not that people on Twitter are fundamentally disagreeable, it's that most of the discourse is structured around things people disagree with.

But if there was a ‘dislike’ button hitting that would mean engaging them. But that’s the way it’s become, sadly.

Maybe a "respectfully disagree" button in that case.

🤣

Thing is, most online shitposters are pussies. Stop talking about Twitter, it’s not even a competitor.

Twitter is the legacy platform. It’s how most of us found nostr in the first place, and its remaining users are likely the next wave of nostriches.

I think it’s worthwhile to articulate the differences, and to define what this movement is about, while we’re in such an early and transitional stage.

Twitter should run on the nostr protocol
