I think a video I saw recently summarized part of the problem quite well.

In short, the lady was given a test to taste diet cokes from 6 different locations/packaging. ALL diet coke mind you. She knew based on flavor which packaging/store each coke came from. Not 4 of 6, all 6 of 6. Without hesitation.

It disgusted me, yet everyone celebrated like she won a gold medal.
