I keep finding nostr:nprofile1qqsx2wyjt6lmvc05rrvv05r5hm3w3t7h0pcpmkyswrpd4ymd2u09tscpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduq3kamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu339e682mnwv4k8xct5wvhxxmmdqywhwumn8ghj7mn0wd68yttsw43zuam9d3kx7unyv4ezumn9wscn3xgh to be quite a data hog despite having the Downloads preset for Wifi only.

Is that a common issue?

on one release, it was downloading all my follows which hogged storage but that was fixed

should you delete downloads after listening or download less (stream more)?

I usually download just on the wifi.

But yea, maybe it's the streaming consuming quite some data?

- If so, I would prefer if it batches and backlogs the streamed sats and sends it later.

Also, interestingly, my wallet has been drained for some days, but the streaming is still on.

- I hope that did no't consume any data

Also, on the mobile data

- when just refreshing the library with the swipe down, it starts downloading all the new episodes. I would prefer if it's separated into 2 actions (refresh new episodes; download (a single episode, not all the new ones)

I have had issues with the app. It downloads episodes and was keeping them indefinitely. Not ideal, but there were some settings I had to adjust. The default never deleted anything and it was filling my phones disk up. The default should be less of a disk hog. Will need to pay attention to the setting of downloading over WiFi only.

I had the same issue. That was easy to fix, but I agree that changing the default would make sense.

The data download, I don't remember what's the default there. But despite having it on Wifi, I somehow keep draining the data there much faster than expected.

We have a new image proxy service coming in the next week or so which should make a big difference to data usage. Some of the artwork in feeds can get pretty large and currently we don’t do anything to reduce the size.

Maybe it's worth looking at it closer here.

Today, I was more cautious about it.

- The app closed itself down while I kept the podcast paused for an hour or two

- I sit back in the car, open the app to continue to play something

- it starts with updating and downloading the nostr feed (unnecessary at that point; slows things down, and wastes the data

- I go back to the library. And without swiping down, it itself refreshes the library, and starts downloading all the new episodes, despite presetting the downloads for WiFi only... 🤨

- I think that's probably how I've been always wasting my mobile data in last months over the first few days of the month. I assume the nostr feed was just a marginal contribution to this.

- This started in December. I didn't have problems with it before.

- for now, I switched to only manual downloads, and it seems to respect that choice. ✅
