the wonderful thing about America and modern times is if they want to continue lying they can start their own podcasts, YouTube channel etc... they have an army of supporters
I have no problem with abc firing people, I do have a problem with any gov pressuring a corporation like when x removed a sitting president, or doctors were silenced during COVID for dissenting opinions

These two in particular perpetuated so much destructive bs during the pandemic.
I also don't have a problem with a company firing someone - but it happening on the heels of the FCC statement is very troubling.
I think the main issue is just too much centralized power (fix the money, etc). However, within the system we have, that statement is govt coercion and a nasty side-stepping of the first amendment. We saw it a ton during covid, and it's just as despicable now.

ABC has fired conservatives for a long time ... Think Gina Carano or Roseanne Barr. They were on very popular shows at the time. So maybe they just suck at standing up for unpopular speech?
Kimmel and Colbert both have large platforms and so far I don't see them losing instagram, x, YouTube or worse bank accounts. I would be against that happening.
Lastly, I find it telling that it's the people laughing at the guy that died on a platform of free speech decrying this firing
I agree on everything you just wrote. Also didn't say in my last reply: I'm sorry that you were fired, and thank you for being one of the relatively few that bore the brunt of those horrible policies. Tucker recently talked about his fake vaccine card and said that if he had been more of a man he wouldn't have gotten that card.
My concern is with the govt agency that oversees media giving strong hints at what a network should do. Watching that during covid was almost worse than the outright censorship since it was harder to fight. ("What? we didn't recommend that Mercola - and his family and his staff - be de-banked. We just put him on the disinformation list. Not our fault that the banks did what they did.") The more this is normalized the worse it gets. I guess it's all going in that direction anyway, but it's still awful to watch.
This is why I am for nostr. Much harder to censor. And no need to apologize, I am actually sorry, I think I unintentionally portrayed that I was fired. I literally meant I was 2 days away from being fired. My company issued a policy that all non vaccinated would be fired to comply with White House mandate. I would have been fired had the Supreme Court not overruled the instruction.
Not to say it wasn’t rough but I didn’t lose my job like others did. Don’t want to falsely represent that.

Was this through the OSHA mandate? I was finally paying attention by then. Do you know that Biden announced it - and many companies promptly started with the threats or just directly with the firings using the executive order as the reason - before the order was even written?
My husband did lose his job at that point. His boss asked whether he was asking for an exemption. For better or worse, my love said the first thing that came to his mind, which was "You want me to ask you for permission to not take a vaccine?"
That was the end of that meeting.

My company was one of those from the Biden announcement. The message to employees was basically we will start to comply with this order on x date. Supreme Court batted it down a couple days before.
I remember my boss asking me to submit my vaccine proof through our online system because it wasn’t showing up yet.
This brings back painful memories. I also watched as people who wanted sovereignty over their own bodies were demonized. I ended up getting fired from 2 jobs. Ironically, these were both in biotech where anyone who was intellectually honest knew that when you are dealing with a completely novel drug modality, it is simply not possible to deem it 'safe' without years of testing and data. I wanted to wait to see more data.
My early foray into getting better at R by digging into the VAERS raw data coupled with my personal risk made the cost/benefit analysis tip in favor of waiting. Seeing Kevin McKernan & Jessica Rose' work on finding significant DNA contamination in the vials is yet 1 more reason to be glad I did not give up control over what goes in my body.
Despite that being a terrible time, it also catalyzed an immense amount of personal growth & exploration, as well as opening my eyes to aspects of society that I had previously passed over.

Seriously eye-opening for us as well! Overall it was a good thing but I was in full-scale panic mode for a few years. Panic and anger. Everyone around me seemed willfully stupid.

I'm doing well. Unemployed and teetering between trying to find an ethical biotech startup to continue that career vs. moving to our tree farm full time to raise a few animals, garden, forage and do forestry.
A cool in between option is that I spoke with the CEO at Umbrel this morning about doing tech support for them. That would be super fun and facilitate a more graceful shift away from the city. I am very passionate about freedom tech and would be happy trading my time to further that cause. Opportunities like that are scarce for a biotech junkie like me.
I did have a job after the covid debacle at another startup that I really enjoyed, but they ran short on funding at the end of last year.
