You want to watch #youtube, but get rid of the #advertisements? Is it too addictive for you? Don't you want to be in the tracking arms of google?

If one of these situations applies to you:

use #invidious to access all YouTube content! Without advertisements, distraction free, no need for javascript, simple and no tracking. And you can download the videos too!

A desktop application called "Freetube" uses invidious in the background. You can install "UntrackMe" on android, an app that automatically redirects links to non-invasive alternatives.

Another android application called "Newpipe" has the same features but still gets al the content from youtube itself, not trough invidious. It has alot of features including subscriptions and you will never need the official youtube application again if you don't need a youtube account!

Invidious is #open-source software for websites. More information here: invidious.io

FreeTube is an #open-source desktop application.

The #open-source android apps (newpipe, untrackme) can be found on F-Droid.org

All those software applications work best if you don't need an account. However, invidious is compatible with youtube accounts: those can be used there. Newpipe has no account compatibility. But it makes it up with really nice features.

#children should be more in control of their toughts and not be addicted to youtube. Invidious can protect them in a great way while also not showing any annoying advertisements. The same applies for #Newpipe.

I suggest every parent and especially #bitcoin parents to let the above be the standard.

I discovered Libretube for android yesterday with thanks to nostr:npub1f6ugxyxkknket3kkdgu4k0fu74vmshawermkj8d06sz6jts9t4kslazcka that is also a great app without getting the content directly from google. Get it through F-droid also.

Is that the one with material design? last (long) time ago I used it, it was a little buggy. It could have changed though.

I don't know what you mean with material design 🙈.

This is the one: https://github.com/libre-tube/LibreTube#differences-to-newpipe

Yes that one. I tried it quite some time ago, might try it again.

Have not tried it really yet, but I think it is a good add next to newpipe. Newpipe is my favorite, but does not work when I run it over Tor unfortunately.

How do you run it over tor?

I use invzible pro and can choose which apps to run over it. But discovered that newpipe gets the content directly from google and they can see your IP. Have to Cline newpipe to my work profile to let it run over my mullvad VPN.

Does libre tube work good then?
