Thinking of mining #bitcoin?
From my bitaxe, the revenue rate on Braiins pool is about 62 sats per day per terahash…
At 20.5w to get me 850 GH/s, each day those 53 sats cost 9.4¢ to mine at 18.5¢ per KWhr…which means price of bitcoin needs to almost double before I’ll break even on just the electricity.
Bitaxe is a lottery miner. The idea is to help with miner decentralization (provided there are enough plebs using them) while giving you a tiny chance at winning a block.
Good call. But it is nice to have sats for tips without having to do anything.
People might need to mine out of altruism.
There was a time when I mined for real and my laptop was about 1/64th of the Bitcoin network. I naively thought that if push came to shove, I’d leave my computer on day and night every day of the week to make sure the chain at least crawled forward slowly…but those days are long gone.
