So, I have mentioned this before and earlier today was a good reason why.

One of my pet peeves is people who feel the need to shorten everything to an acronym.

Seriously, is it that difficult to actually type out a few words? I was ready to go off on someone earlier because, in one of his replies he wrote GFY fren with the hugging emoji and I was a bit confused. Why would he tell me to Go Fuck Yourself but call me a friend and then virtually hug me?

Then it dawned on me, he was saying Good For You. Spelling out a couple words can be the difference between a conversation going pear shaped when communicating online.

I shouldn’t have to decipher what you’re saying because you’re too damn lazy to use the technology given to you to complete a proper sentence.

It was different when you had to use a keypad for messages (I think this would’ve driven zoomers mad 😂), but now, between full keyboards, swype and voice to text, there’s no excuse for not spelling out your messages completely.

It’s a bit different when you’re using ubiquitous terms, like LOL, WTF, SMH, but I shouldn’t have to do a google search to determine WTF a POC is…
