That's sad. I can't remember the last time I did a UEFI update. My Thinkpad hasn't had one in years.

You reminded me of an old Asus tablet PC I had with Windows 8.1 on it and I'd have to leave it over night to do software updates it was so slow.

This was my Thinkpad. Pretty recent, think they’re ironing things out. P1 gen 5.

Took almost 15 minutes. Lol

Wow hopefully soon I’ll get the joys of experiencing that too. Lol

Mixed bag. It was work provided. Very fast, also lava hot. A speaker quit working after a week. Linux support has been spotty, but that’s mostly nvidia’s fault.

When I boot Windows, I can see its potential. But I don’t boot windows often on that machine. 🤣

I hope you get to too 🤣

Sounds like the Dells we use at work. Except we can’t run Linux on them.

The Windows images we use are so loaded down with background programs they’re unusable as a laptop.

Ouch 😣

I’m grateful that my case was more of a “Hey, we like your work and saw you had a shitty laptop - have a new one.” So I got to install whatever I wanted so long as I had Linux and clang.

I wish we could do that! Our laptops sit on a desk at the office and then come home on occasion for telework.

The make us use Teams and all the Office 365 junk. 😫

Yeah that bites.

Finally moved off office - using markdown for almost everything now.

Teams… not sure how they ever sold that one to people. We use slack, which is better but not by much. I’d really like to get us on Zulip.

I don’t get it either. The bosses took away all our servers (except the DCs) and moved us to OneDrive and now they’re taking away the phones and pushing to use Teams for that too.

Wow. They managed to make phone calls even less secure.

I’ve got an L14 Gen 4 coming soon. It was supposed to be delivered today but it’s been stuck in Korea for the 3 days.

I hope you get it soon. Then you too can enjoy the pleasures of bimonthly firmware updates. ❤️🤣
