Yes 2fa is a good idea, and for your account safety.
Same on GitHub for forcing this. But at the same time shame on any open source developer who contributes on GitHub and doesn't secure their account with 2FA.

I don't see how this is a bad thing, but It feels odd for them to be forcing people. maybe they are trying to collect phone numbers since most people don't have good 2FA and will just opt for SMS 2FA
