Unschooling is not unparenting or unlearning.
"It just means that young people actually have meaningful choice in terms of what it is that they want to engage in and what they want to learn. Not by force, of course. It's just the adults are acting as facilitators instead of performance judges. And so this doesn't mean that you keep all textbooks away from kids or, oh, you stop them from taking a class. They want to take a class on whatever art or computer programming, whatever it is that they just want to take it. It just means that it's not rooted in threats and shame and judgments and ultimatums, which is what school is, where it's basically this kind of performance circus."
