What would you say to someone who thinks a Bitcoin business is doomed to fail because “Bitcoiners don’t spend their Bitcoin”?

I'd call them retarded and go back to my work selling wine to bitcoiners

Love it🤣

I use it as a medium of exchange daily

Can't one double spend with E-cash? Otherwise agree, Bitcoin can be an MoE by decreasing node hardware costs over time

If you could double spend I don't think we'd be discussing it any further

Bob mints token A, copies it and redeems it with the mint. Bob uses the copy of token A to buy apples from Alice. Alice sends apples over as she can see she received a valid token (minted from the same mint).

Alice goes to redeem the token copy and gets a "token already redeemed" from the mint.

Maybe it's not exactly double-spending, but it permits some sort of fraud?

Otherwise, if you assume the tokens are redeemed (for BTC LN) automatically with the mint on every transaction, how is it better/more private than BTC LN alone?

Genuine question, I'm just a beginner trying to understand Cashu on top of LN

“Bitcoin will never be a medium of exchange”

— guy who thinks Lightning is a Final Fantasy spell

— still waiting 3–5 business days for his PayPal refund

— can’t define ecash but has strong feelings about it

Meanwhile:

• We’re buying groceries with sats

• Sending value over Nostr like it’s AOL Instant Zap

• And doing peer-to-peer commerce while they write threads about why it’s impossible

Don’t tell us what Bitcoin can’t do while we’re literally doing it.
