People keep saying that scalability and privacy should come in layers. Reality is that after 15 years, there's only 1 real layer on top of the base one and it's riddled with issues and limitations on UX, custody, liquidity, fees, security, statefulness and privacy.
Meanwhile, there's no 3rd layer in sight, only a bunch of upcoming L2s with even more questionable trade-offs.
Believing that "layers on top of layers" fix everything is looking like a hard sell.
What's a better solution then?

The better solution is to not limit your thinking by believing internet maxi memes, accept new ideas and employ critical thinking as best you can.
