This might sound like a stupid idea (and probably is) but I think I might trying to “gut” this old CRT that isn’t working right and make it into some kind of side table stand for the futon. Try to remove the tube section but keep it square size with the rear panel exposed maybe. 🤷♂️

You should start thinking how you're going to give it structural support. Once you take off the bulb, it becomes a fragile and unstable shell
Possibly. I’d like to keep the screen in itself depending on how much is dismantlable. Espcially if it used any sort of modular design build.
