Triumphs were Military parades held to honor achievements on the battlefield. They were the peak to most Roman Generals careers and legitimate ones were only given out once or twice a generations. To help prevent a swollen ego of the person celebrating an interesting feature was added; a slave would be next to the General and whisper in their ear "Remember, you are mortal"
