Why should anyone in any country be forced to compete with immigrants/the world to get any job within their country?

We don't need to compete. It doesn't benefit the citizens of the country.

People are not interchangeable economic units. People are not just laborers.

Please pitch to the lower economic third of any country that "prices going up is good for everyone" or how about pitch to the elderly living on fixed incomes that "prices going up is good for everyone"

It’s the money printer that’s the problem. Your government keeps debasing your money. It’s not the immigrants. You’re not my enemy, for once we agree on one thing. The whole shit is fucked up. Fix the money, fix the world.

It's both. Two things can be true at the same time.
