Me and nostr:npub13vepw9xdhjzhp87lv5h7z2jgzteltmzqe4scjsn9dtwwncz6ekms5p489d first explored El Salvador more than three years ago because of the bitcoin law.

45 memorable days in bitcoin only, without touching dollars or credit cards.

During our trip we immediately saw many wonders, but also many distortions bordering on the dystopian. People's poor bitcoin education, the government's pounding propaganda, the Chivo wallet (a spyware that no so-called Bitcoin president should ever have proposed to his people).

We have always been very critical of top-down adoption. It is no secret.

And at the same time it is undeniable that the Bitcoin Law was a historic event.

For the same reason today seeing the government of El Salvador kneeling before the God Dollar and the oligarchs of the IMF leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.

Today Bitcoin is no longer legal tender in El Salvador, the news is making the rounds around the world, and the regime media are happily feasting on it. This is also a historical event.

Anyone who denies this or is trying to minimize the consequences of this only shows that they are lobotomized by state propaganda.

It is what it is; you cannot sugarcoat it.

Our thoughts go as always to the people of El Salvador, to our many good friends there.

¡Que le vaya bien!

Fren it was sad reading about #Bitcoin no longer being recognized as legal currency in #ElSalvador 🇸🇻

You'll always have your personal experiences and memories of your trip there 3 short years ago when you lived using #Bitcoin and the #Lightning ⚡ network cherish those memories.

… what? How could this happen? Where can I lern more about El Salvador leaving Bitcoin? Wasn’t there just this week Plan B?

laura have you been in el salvador 🇸🇻 recently? i spend most of the year in 🇸🇻 since 2021. first time i went none of my local friends were interested, 4 yrs later all of them know a little smth about it and at least half of them use and stack these precious sats. first time i went to berlin there was no tourism and you could pay nothing with bitcoin, but now 3yrs later it is a flourishing little town thanks to bitcoin with more than 100 merchants accepting it. sivar and coast of la libertad have accelerating adoption as well. rest of the country is lacking behind, but hey rome wasn’t built in a day

regarding the bitcoin law/legal tender nothing changed. to get the new imf loan they had to adjust the law that bitcoin no longer must be accepted by merchants aso, but that part of the law was never implemented anyways

i can imagine that bukele is playing the imf and is buying 1.4B $ more bitcoin than otherwise would have been possible

call me stupid, only time will tell. anyways i m positiv that it was a smart move to buy land in el salvador and build a second home here. i love the country and its lovely people

☮️

that was a lovely buy yesterday

I was there 3 times, was sad to see it is going in the totally wrong direction. Having seen "adoption" in El Salvador was one of the reasons i lost faith in Bitcoin.
