I heard some people in Telegram say that Phoenix BEFORE the update was actually better because now after the update they have to pay fees even when the payment is less than the channel capacity because the splicing shrinks the channel size. So you’re always paying some fee. Is that true? They’re saying to avoid the update at all costs :s nostr:note16jvwldynapczrupeku7h5ykj70qc8mwmfgx48yxnpdg6vn2dscps4a9ghq

I think overall the new update helps manage unexpected costs of creating new channels, which is a confusing and frustrating experience for new users. There will always be some people who don’t like change but this seems like a leap forward for self-custody Lightning.

Yes I thought so too. I guess I just need to try it out. If I don’t like it I can always use Blixt or something. That’s the beauty of it. You don’t get locked up to one system :)
