Definitely! The current relay implementation either functions as a surveillance tool or fails to scale effectively. To truly improve, I believe we need relays to run locally within clients, while still ensuring notes remain visible without requiring everyone to add tons of relays from others. It’s somewhat like an “outbox” concept, but we need something different, as I don’t think the outbox model is scalable either!

Also, if developers don’t yet have ideas on how to improve relays, they could at least implement a scanning feature to detect dishonest relays that log your IPs. This would be a great step toward transparency and privacy in the meantime.
