#asknostr those of you who believe in #God how do you respond to people denying god with the argument of wars, deaths, etc. Unnecessary suffering.
Discussion
That the gods are not omnibenevolent and some even encourage war, nothing to do with ontology.
Buddhists might argue that peace has no meaning without war and such a dualistic view is nonsense to begin with.
Defending the position of there being a single omnipotent, omnibenevolent and omnipresent god is a lot trickier, not sure how people rationalize that.
Why a dualistic view is nonsense? Seems like everything in life has an opposite.
A western dualistic view sees the two opposites as two distinct things when a buddhist would probably say they are in fact the same thing. One gives meaning to the other. In fact there is no one without the other.
However, not all dualistic examples are opposites. The classic example; there are no bees without flowers. A dualistic view sees bees and flowers as two distinct things while a buddhist sees them as the same organism due to the fact that they "emerge" together.
But don't take the word "nonsense" the wrong way. People need a lot of nonsense. That's where humans thrive.
I believe that can be answered through the “fall of man” as described in the Bible (Genesis 3&4). God designed the world to be in perfect harmony but gave free will and through that we rebelled and introduced strife.
