Wait, I can use a wallet in Zeus -and connect to Damus via NWC ? I thought I could only do NWC to a non custodial node

No you can use any wallet for NWC. It doesn't have to be custodial.
I use a plug-in on my CLN node to create a nwc connection string. Then I can use Zeus and my connection string to use my CLN node. You can do the same thing with any other wallet that supports NWC.
I'm not sure you can make a connection string through Zeus though. Maybe on the embedded node
