My dad was reminiscencing with his middle school PE teacher, my husband's grandpa. He would open the gym up during lunchtime for young men to settle their differences with boxing gloves.

From my experience with public school and with parents today, this would be appalling to most. For me, I wish my teenage son had the opportunity to duke it out. I think he would learn something in way that I can't really teach him.
