It's far more sinister than that. If it imploded, there would at least be a possibility to rebuild. If enough of these surveillance and control laws goes through, it will be on an exponential, inevitable path to eternal complete totalitarianism. No hope in decades, our entire lifetimes, or even far beyond them. Not ever. And it's not just the EU, similar things are rolling out faster or slower in most parts of the world it seems.

I think the event horizon is within 10 years, at the current rate. Maybe much sooner, as it's accelerating

Freedom technology alone won't solve this, as many people on Nostr seem to believe. It's an important part, but pressure on the politics is needed too. And, I think, most needed of all is spreading information - I doubt even 10% of Europeans know that this is going on, at the very least not to what extent, or its consequences.
