Lightning Labs should not be a new twitter. If they won't build it, users will move.

if i spin up a CLN node, can i start using this today?

will it be payable by those not using CLN, or through normal lightning wallets. i assume it would since it’s effectively the same as LNURL but not sure

Yes!

Maybe #[8] can elaborate what you need to do to be compatible?

#[9]

Yes. I'll work on it today. The first version will be very sparse, but can be filled it more as it's tried out and tested.

A cool thing about the setup is that one can also add a webhook to it and push data into other systems. Here's a shot of data going into my home automation system where I'll later implement triggering events based on specific comment strings sent with the transaction:

That looks very sexy! 😁

On second thought: Fuck it. I'm am not going to spend time writing a guide that tells plebs how to destroy their privacy and ability to operate without permission,.. just for a vanity address or to satisfy the urge to tinker.

You guys are on your own.

Continue running Core Lightning and advocating for #bolt12. Find ways to help that don't require sacrificing core principles.

This is the way.

Here's a video me playing some old school metal back in 2016 instead.

Lmfao! 😁

So you can just add a bolt12 invoice in the tip field and that will work?

It might work for those of us running c-lightning. For everyone else, not so much.

Ok i see

yes except Its not supporting lud16 Lightning addresses .

sick- that’s amazing!

i don’t really use lud16 addresses anyway 😜

How is Lightning Labs trying to be a new Twitter?

Lightning labs solutions are incentivising centralisation of liquidity, which will benefit their own infrastructure but not decentralisation and robustness of the network. Instead a few single hubs will grow Very large and if there is an outage alot of people will be affected. Look at what happened to wallet of satoshi recently.

From a layman’s perspective, I disagree with this characterization. While Lightning Labs may be incentivizing centralization of liquidity, I think this is deeply needed and natural. It will also democratize access for everyone to earn yield with their liquidity. This will be very very important.

While too much centralization is certainly a concern, I think the network will automatically adjust to find the right balance.

Also, I think the comparison with Twitter is off, because I think most of LL software is open source right?

#[8] Do I have this right/is there something you would add to clarify?

#[8] In case you can chime in!

Yep, LND and the Loop/Pool clients are FOSS. Same with LNC and other parts of our stack. IMO, as a business, Lightning Labs really only succeeds if the Lightning Network is as large, non-custodial, and decentralized as possible. We will continue to work hard to make that reality come to fruition.
