It's a nice option to have. Amethyst allows you to choose from several different compression levels when you upload an image. But we also get into UX issues too. Should users as be presented with an option to buy a storage package? High quality image storage isn't free.

I see what you’re saying. I’m a fan of presenting the user with that info and options during initial setup, but that might be too much friction for the average Instagram normie. Would probably also run into “hey, I thought this Nostr thing was supposed to be FrEeEeE?!”
That's exactly the response they'd have. This is probably best in an advanced setting.
I am planning on writing some user guides for Olas for non-technical people and have a section already for Blossom servers, running your own, paid ,etc. but I did not think about mentioning a benefit to running your own would be to dictate the image quality that you'd like to use.
I was pondering making a short video on Nostr for Instagram-ers, but I think I might wait for Olas to hit the iOS app store first.
I’d wait. I have a bunch of things planned too, but it’s not ready yet. Olas needs to be essentially bug free first and then the marketing campaigns will start. I don’t want people getting a bad first experience. I look forward to your video when things are a bit more polished. We all need to push this if we want it to succeed.
