I am curious how operators of fairly large Lightning node monitoring their system? Right now I am observing one node that I am connected to and it shows up but my (and from what I can see) and many other channels are down. They now experiencing almost one force closure of a channel per hour, and probably in next 24 hours I will see same for mine. WTF? Is that the right way to run a node? 🐶🐾🤷♂️🤯

I have been experiencing odd behavior from my node lately. “Inactive” channels. Wallet of Satoshi force closed on me. Several stuck HTLCs.
You look good from my end. If you have TOR only, then that could be the reason. I am dual mode! 🐶🐾🫡
A lightning node is set-and-forget. Until it isn't.
False belief! It’s a constant maintenance thing, until we have a good way to keep it well balanced🐶🐾🫡
if you're running LND, this tool could help you automating a lot of management tasks:
https://github.com/accumulator/charge-lnd
just play with the fee according to the channel balance and stop worrying about rebalancing
I already use LNDg that does all of that and more. Thank you! 🐶🐾🫡
looks good, but it seems to me that have a different approach than charge-lnd.
It relies on the rebalance concept while with charge-lnd you can incentivize flows to the channels you want to flush by automatically lowering the fees (not working 100% of the times tho).
Also, charge-lnd can avoid payment failure happening on your node by limiting the htcl size on empty channels and many more things.
I'd say both tools could be used together for different tasks
I like the HTLC control, that will help for sure! Thanks again! 🐶🐾🫂🫡
I wrote a pretty simple node script that applies 90% of the current local balance as max htlc and sets a banded fee rate according the percentage on my side. Set to run hourly and pretty much forget. Let it run for a week or so and monitor flows and tweak as necessary.
That’s nice! Is it available somewhere? 🐶🐾🫡🙏🏻
