Not so - while it is a fool's errand to buy 2nd-hand HWW for storage of coins, getting used HW at (sometimes) significant discount is a win for folx like me that just want to saw 'em open and put 'em under a microscope.

How about two used HWW from two different sources and set them up in a multi SIG?

Not personally a big fan of multisig setups for anything besides couch change, but to each their own.
