nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z sex work is work.

i may be completely wrong here but i feel many people think they have to report in order to block and pornography/nudity is the logical option choose.

if people see a form, they think they have to fill it out

i.e. report instead of unfollow, mute, or block.

we certainly don't want false positives de-platforming people on #amethyst/#nostr

sex industry work is not the same as random spam, 🍆 pics and actual bad stuff, it is of course a legitimate profession and one that btc and ln are perfectly suited for as standard payment processors can be huge dicks about what they consider a "high risk" industry, holding funds from paying customers, not paying out on time etc, not paying at all etc..

i feel the report/block screen could be updated to eliminate potential confusion by making the options between block, and report clearer

i could be a simple warning about the consequences of reporting along with making the choices visually clearer guiding the user a little more to avoid confusion and false reports

what do you think vitor, #plebchain? how can we avoid this?

how can we help make these options clearer on amethyst to avoid false reports for sex industry plebs?

Onyx only has two reports that I can see. So, I don't really know what the fuzz is about. The screens seem very clear to me, but happy to improve if there is a better way.

thx vitor. gotcha. based on one of onyx posts i was led to believe the reports were happening much more frequently, if not daily. thank you for providing accurate data from what you can see 🤙🏻

though i do still feel the amethyst reporting system is dependent on users being hyper aware of the ramifications of the selection they are making between block and report

based on my experience in marketing and ux, a non-insignificant amount of average users will likely choose the report nudity/porn without even seeing the option to block & hide above...because it is so specific and it's right there.

my suggestion would be slim down the 7 initial options to just three when tapping the tripple dot on a user profile

copy user id

block & hide user

report user

maybe also a pop-up confirmation before submitting that says something like, "by blocking this user you will..." and "by reporting this user you will..." etc.?

also i didn't mean to report you i was just testing to see if a confirmation screen existed 😅

I completely agree with this. We are not Bluesky. We shouldn't build a narc culture. Mute works fine in most situations. Reporting actual abusive behavior and spam should probably require a separate step and a confirmation.

This “feature” in Amethyst may also be affecting the reach of nostr:npub12u7xgzak939jlap3fnev05eky6d4ntwr4lrs03kgnnfd9njmtvrsr9jjmt . nostr:npub1p5ryszcvdca78jdp5ewhu67zpyfz042m7nrha6mqx7a8wakrqrkqre5ksj was doing some giveaways yesterday and suddenly found that the Prism Post account was hidden even though he hadn’t muted it. Would people muting the notifications result in it also being reported and subsequently hidden from all Amethyst users? If so it is a broken feature and needs to be changed.

reports are great, faggots report good users making them easy to find, spammers get shit binned by everyone

Yeah, report nudity/porn on the network that literally doesn’t have tos that prohibits you from posting it (and it not being illegal in majority of the developed countries) is counterintuitive. I suspect it’s just taken from “name your special media client” and copied to nostr client. 🐶🐾🫂🤔

That and the PlayStore absolute requirement to use those particular words if we want to have the app there :(

That sucks. Does it even need to be there? I mean specific “nudity/porn” one? 🐶🐾🫂

No, but I people just choose other options when they can't find the correct report option. It happens when videos include people on drugs or violent content. If people think it's repulsive, they will want to warn their followers about the repulsive content. And that's exactly what the reporting system does. Each report only matters for the followers of the reporter.

having just 3 initial options as i suggested earlier, allows for more choice clarity and the retaining of certain google required language/report options, that are visible AFTER tapping "report". what do you think?

Sorry, whats the 3 options again?

copy user id

block & hide user

report user

when report user is tapped for example, the necessary other options become visible/available

maybe also a basic pop-up confirmation before final submission that says something like, "by blocking this user you will..." and "by reporting this user you will..." etc.?

imo this would declutter the 7 options to 3 and would clarify the options and serve to better inform and deter flippant or false/accidental reporting

i know you're busy. any fb from this thread?

I like this proposal.

Just a little brainstorming here, but maybe there's something that can be done at onboarding that immediately stops anything marked as n s f w from entering your feed alongside with adding a bunch or known phrases and hashtags to your muted words list. A check box at the start that says "block known/marked n s f w content" with a disclaimer that this isn't 100% effective.

Ever since muted words was added, my spam problems have been cleared up in like 99.9% cases. No notifications, barely even feel like its a problem anymore. Something like this might even let someone follow nostr:npub12z8jsett3k6rv9fa2guau5p540qr2xuvjzkr8e432mglafjt99sqkw9zmx and be completely unaware of her other n s f w posts.

Thoughts?

💡

Or (probably not a popular idea since there aren’t many n s f w content posters here)

But, what if we had a n s f w box in the note section for posting ?

For humans like me that do post versatile content.

Hashtags can be missed and forgotten about. I lately have been trying to make it my first hashtag in a n s f w post, so I make sure I don’t forget about it ..but minds scatter, people multitask and things get left out. I feel this would also help new plebs too as there is definitely no rule book for #thenostr #nostr and things are a bit misleading when others join thinking that nostr is 💯 uncensored.

I understand the box in the note section for posting would be client based. nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z Just genuine thoughts . (Tagging you to because I only used #damus and #amethyst)

This would be very helpful, though getting that into all clients will be a nightmarish effort.

Oh yes I definitely understand it would be troublesome and not a priority for every client. Just pondering. 🙂

Amethyst does this in the little eye button when posting. Thats the content warning feature.

But my current recommendation is to have two accounts, one for the explicit content and the other for work-safe content. People that want both can follow both. Followers then can also have their own NSFW account where everything is setup for NSFW content, and a work-safe account. This would work with every single client out there.

Is there a demo of account switching, or can you somehow run two instances of amethyst on one device?

Using two accounts is definitely not beneficial on my end, but I appreciate the suggestion.

I had thought of that ages ago, and I even made a separate one, however I realized it goes against my own beliefs , mind set and well being. It’s also not time efficient for a model and human like myself.

I should be able to post when and what I want , where I want on nostr.

Doing what you suggest would only be people pleasing imo. I’m over people pleasing, I continue to strive to be my authentic self whenever I can. I’ve people pleased my whole life, and I’m going to continue to do me , on the decentralized web. (Said genuinely)

Considering that it's going to be really hard to enforce any other filter in thousands of clients, separate accounts can solve it without any need to support it. It's more work, but it's also better for your audience.

We are working on NIP32 labels and communities as subtopics per account, in such a way that you can follow or hide just a subtopic from a user. That will make it better but almost no client will support it out of the gate... It will take a LONG time.

thank you 🫂💜

No problem … I am following this issue for some time and my photography profile is also somewhat affected by the handling of nsfw content. It’s a hard problem to solve, especially when someone posts a variety of content and the profile can not be classified clearly.

I'm still lame and have 0 reports, but, I'm also still new and have not really put my foot in my mouth... It'll happen sooner or later.

No reports is good Beave ! 😁

It means I'm being civil and polite, which us not always the case...

Also, gah! Light mode? Ew. I even have my browser set to dark mode.

Same

Only 2 reports eh? Are you joking 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Not joking. Now it's zero. Either relays are deleting or the users are deleting them themselves.

Very intriguing 🤔
