Wild! Is the way to prevent this turn off push notifications? It’s definitely gonna be for messaging apps.

For messaging apps with e2e encryption does it matter?

Controlling people it's power not just knowledge it's power.

Like the cookies that you are forced to accept.

For ex. If I want to buy winter tires I will search 1 time I buy them and that's it, I will not search for them 1 month to receive just tires ads and other stuff.

So push notifications are not even part of the code of Nostr apps to avoid getting users tracked; good to know.

Turn off all your notifications except tinder.

It’s all getting quite ridiculous.

Glad i switched to grapheneOS

How does graphene do push notifications?

Im too new to know. I get signal notifications as it runs in tbe backgrouns. Im not sure since i think google plah services usually handles push. I try to not use push. My graphene is basically a dumb phone, at least thats my joke. I like it that way - less screen time.

It depends, if you have (the sandboxed version of) Google Play services installed on it then it'll handle push notifications just like on any other device. If it's not installed some apps (e.g. Signal) can run in the background and check for updates on their own, some apps can work with your own push notifications server (such as setting up a UnifiedPush setup), and some apps just won't get notifications if they don't support the latter two.

If I’m not a target of interest to the government, just disabling push notifications would be enough, right?

If you're not on some government list by now, you should be ashamed of yourself. 😂 🤣

I could be embarrassed but it doesn’t bother me. 😄

Wow
