Why is there so much violence from religious groups?

Are you under the impression that secular society is less violent than Christendom?

Not really, but secular don’t preach love thy neighbour.

The golden rule is a secular, Western value that does not seem to have curbed the violent nature of man very much.

It may be one of an unlimited number of optional values for secular individuals.. All religion generally preaches love, compassion and anti-violent behaviour though, yet some are very poor at applying it

The commonality between our points seems to be that man is fallen and often violent, and that religion alone has not been a sufficient cure for his fallenness.

What Christian groups are regularly engaging in violence?

‘Regularly’ was never posed. More referring to historically and currently.

And not targeting any single religious group. Just genuinely curious how the violence vs values is squared off

Big subject. Hard to provide a simple answer.

A good place to start is why there is violence at all, why there is a misalignment of values and actions, and even why there are numerous religions.

For that I point you to the book of Genesis.

Can you be more specific? Which violence comes to mind in regard to Christians?

Organised criminals and gang members

That's not true. You are made in God's image and likeness and you are an instrument of His grace. You are his hands and feet in this word. So to say "nothing good in you" is rather extrame even given our fallen nature. Sure all goodness is from God but we are his children.

Fair. But nothing good in me can be claimed as my own, and men should not follow me for the works I do, but follow Christ alone.

They should see Christ in you and then be inspired to follow Christ or follow more closely

I value your comments, Scrolls.
