My point is you don’t need data. Just look at what is getting absorbed into your skin. That should be enough. Sometimes you don’t need research papers or experiments for simple common sense things.
Don't trust, verify.
The onus is on the manufacturer to prove they work not the other way around.
Don't use a product unless there is actual data.
The point I've read from many commenters herein is that underlying fact.

Fact: your skin absorbs everything you put on it. Through absorption chemicals will make their your liver and blood.
So again. The onus is on the product to prove no harm. Not the other way around.
