You are correct that there is a ton of crypto content here and users zap each other. Some posters here remind me of youtubers trying to make money off their channels, laser eyes on their avatars and all. It can become tiresome, actually. I started to like my nostr experience a lot more when I began using hastags like #linux.

I've followed your blog for a while. Love it, well done. Especially like your hardware photography, custom builds, and Linux content.

I should add that my interests in FOSS, cypherpunk themes, distributed systems, cryptography, others, overlap with many crypto users here and I appreciate their work on those things.

Thank you, appreciate it! Indeed, I agree regarding the laser eyes cryptobro vibes. I am in fact following hashtags like #gentoo, #openbsd, etc. but unfortunately there's not a lot happening. Will give the more generic #linux a try now. However, I speculate that the general cryptobro vibes that surround #nostr is a big turn-off for many #hackers, #makers, #decentralists and the likes.

Bitcoin, not crapto. Different vibe. Bitcoin is freedom tech, like BSD.

I agree with your point, however, the average user might not distinguish between these two and hence perceive #Nostr as "cryptobro space", when all they might see during their first few minutes on the platform is #zaps, #btc, and #whenlambo.

It also appears that even people who appeared to have initially be in for the technology that powers #Nostr, like nostr:nprofile1qqsgfhhxuemwtwm8kjk5uppv7uxtmp5pz4wm2dv59lxx5pfnsk98ysqpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7p9kx2h, have now become relatively detached from the platform. I'm hence wondering if the community on #Nostr is maybe going down the wrong path.

That's why I'm making the distinction. None of my connections on here give a crap about lambos, so maybe you should distinguish between cryptobros and bitcoin-only people. They're the anti-cryptobro.

Bring in what you want to see. There's no stopping you. The community on here is not just one community, that's the whole point of nostr. Be the value you want to see here, and Linux dudes will come. I love Linux and all things open source. If you lump everyone into the same box and assume they are all the same, I've got news for you, you're flat wrong about that. Bitcoiners are different. Further, by shutting yourself off from them, you miss out on connecting over shared interests. I freaking love open source. Does me also loving bitcoin mean you can't talk to me about other things? NO!

Also, try using n/ communities if you want to speak specifically about a limited set of topics at a time. Like, if you and I join 'nix community, we can have those conversations and you don't have to see all my bitcoin and anarchism posts while still getting to connect over open source operating systems.
