It's not just subsidies. The entire energy sector is economically broken. Volumetric pricing is the biggest problem. Consumers are totally insulated from energy price signals which results in drastic peak load profiles that are insanely expensive to manage with our >100 year old dumb grid design.

Simply adding batteries at the edge of the network is the highest impact fix. It's the first thing we should do to shave the peak. Solar is another huge win because sunshine is the root cause of peak loads in the warm months. We should be powering HVACs with solar panels.

At the puzzl household we produce more energy than we use and turn on hashing machines to balance our excess power
