My particular distro + laptop. If the touchpad gets even a little bit humid, sticky or greasy then cursor will go off the rails and you can't control it. I've installed a special driver which helped but still acts up now and then.

Not good. Not sure what hardware you're on. MacBook trackpad support has improved tremendously over the years. PC trackpads have always been a little clunky to me, but always seem to work as well in linux as they do in windows. I mostly have experience with Debian based distro.

Ubuntu based here. I doesn't happen much anymore. When it does I have to race to get to a mouse so I can shut down properly. Wipe her down with alcohol and that fixes it.
