I mean, if it works it works. I can see a way for bots to game it which isn't ideal, and also it ends up meaning pay for growth/views/interactions, but I think it's still an okay system and not hugely different than any other system out there. People do need incentives in some form or another. Inevitably the market will pay out the best posts. Whatever best ends up meaning.
