Good discussion over there. I don't buy this republitarian argument that we should have border control because the "country" is owned by "the people".
Which people? If it were done democratically then we are currently at a pretty good compromise between the blue and red uniparty.
Let private owners defend their private property and stop using this commie argument that "we" need to defend "our" country from people moving within it.

2. Privatizing the border is the best solution in my opinion.
If there was no welfare of any type, not one gov't program., Not one gov't dollar. Zero. I MEAN NONE.. English is the only language used officially, then I can almost say, open the borders where it isn't private property. Private property is just that. No one should have a say other than the owners. Also in this discussion would be the drugs. This new world would have it all legalized and would also make the dealer who kills someone responsible, and the gov't would be there to make sure they pay. Can't hurt other right? That's what we want the gov't for. To protect our Life, Liberty and Contracts, which make us happy every time we sign one!
Agree freedom require responsibility. When you take away synthetic wellbeing created with forced redistribution of wealth, you stop migration because every place is the same if your situation is based on your own choices. Welfare destroyed society.
Privatizing the border? What does that even mean? Like who would want that shitty patch of land and why would they see any need to keep people from waking across it if they did own it?

Because people are safer with others of the same group around. People that come from other places have different cultures, rules, beliefs and behaviour therefore their actions cannot be predicted. So much time ago there was no crime because the group of people you had around was stable and life was safer. That is why you don't want strangers at home
That sounds like a pretty collectivist and protectionist way of looking at it. Yes it is true that different places have different customs. However, by using generalizations on who might be consider outsiders, you effectively keep the status quo of customs intact instead of allowing new customs in that could potentially benefit certain places.
Collectivism has nothing to do with that. Yes keeping the status quo makes life easier. And yes it's a generalization. Generalization is a very useful tool that gives the ability to predict potential danger in similar situations without having to experiment again and again. For some reasons in these days the basic idea of being safe and protect ourselves is seen as bad. It's not.
Life today is hell because we forgot the old rules and we are experiencing again all the pain that we could have avoided and will reinstate at the end the old rules.
It's acceptable if everyone in the community consents to the rules for these permissions. Like a voluntary republic. That's not the case with any country right now.
