For the love of the gods!
I’m afraid god is drawing dead on this one unable to explain time being a figment of man’s imagination and stuff to have something to blame the ignorance on.
Wen OP_Vault
I’m not an expert on either and it’s been a while since I looked into both.
I just remember preferring op_vault over CTV because I think generic technology updates like CTV could be more dangerous. The generic upgrade can have more unintended consequences and it’s not designed for anything in particular.
It’s better to pick a specific pain point (like vaults / self custody) and design a perfect, limited solution to that specific case. Fewer things can go wrong and the solution should be better designed because it doesn’t make compromises.
Very good explanation. As a non-technical I wasn’t sure the difference but that makes complete sense. Hashtag don’t break bitcoin!
But I REALLY want OP_Vault as a failsafe for hardware attacks or even for hot wallet sim swap / man in the middle risks.
Yes, I agree that we need better self custody and inheritance solutions built into the base chain.
I personally consider self custody and inheritance to be unsolved. Right now, I’m not aware of any solution that is secure, private and provides inheritance for most hodlers.
The solutions I’ve come across are highly complex.
Yeah I agree. The complexity and subsequent risk of multi-sig is why I remain single sig with a passphrase and focus on an air-tight no counter-party risk key storage schematic. But for inheritance purpose it’s not great bc it’s so secure and depends on me and me alone. Not willing to write out instructions on how to destroy my security model.
I think OP_Vault can an excellent solution that will allow for new and better custody / inheritance solutions. Maybe one of the last BIPs Bitcoin needs…
No zaps setup? Wanted to shoot you some V4V sats.
Thanks! Appreciate it. My wallet (Muun) doesn’t support and I figured they would soon so I waited. It’s been a while. So maybe I’ll switch. What do you use?
Not 118 ?
