i did some pretty extensive testing of nip 42 relays. my conclusion is, it is cool but still so far from usable for small private communities unless the users are already early adopters of nostr. i think nostur with its feed function has the best framework. if one could set up feeds that only read and wrote to a specific relay, im imagining you could have a family feed with a nip 42 relay you run with just family, maybe you are in another feed for friends that your friend authorized you to read/write on, then you have your explore feed or web of trust feed for some discovery among some public relays. that would be a really cool experience all in one app, in my opinion. then if we had uniformity among the feeds on a protocol level, you could bounce between clients and still retain those different feeds. i think it would be a different nostr super power for bringing various social circles of your life into one place, some overlapping, some completely separate but you coukd taje it client to client depending on what features you are looking for. i think nostur feeds + nip42 authd relays is the closest we have to somethibg like that, but it all seems pretty far off if it were to ever happen 🤙
